Email your MP to protect pregnant women and new mothers from redundancy
Every year, there are 500,000 pregnant women in the workplace. One in 20 are made redundant simply because they are pregnant or on maternity leave. This is unjust and comes at great cost to women and their families, and to the economy. The Equality and Human Rights Commission estimates that pregnancy and maternity-related discrmination costs women between £47 and £113 million each year.
On Mothers Day 2019, Maternity Action and the Fawcett Society have combined forces to push for stronger legal protections for pregnant and new mothers in the workplace.
Add your voice to our joint letter to MPs asking for a ban on making women redundant during pregnancy and until 6 months after their return from maternity leave. All you have to do is enter your postcode to find your MP and sign our model letter. We do the rest!
